A mystery man who went missing from a jewelry box in the heart of the city has died, according to police.
The 46-year-old man had a history of mental illness, police said Thursday, and he was found dead in his home about a week ago.
He was buried next to his mother at his family’s home in the city of Rialto, California.
Rialto police Lt.
Jason Goss said investigators believe the man was in a state of “dementia.”
He had an extensive mental health history, including several drug arrests and one prior run-in with the law, Goss told reporters.
Rios is located about 20 miles north of Sacramento.
