In a world where you can get a free gift from an Indian vendor for a few dollars, a simple online purchase is often the only option for getting a unique piece of jewellery for your wedding.
And if you’re looking for the best way to get the perfect piece for your special day, you’re in luck.
The Indian online jewelry marketplace Etsy has just released a new update that allows anyone to sell their precious jewels for cash.
“We are working on a new feature for Etsy that will make it so that if you buy something from us online, we will actually send you a gift,” Etsy founder and CEO Michael Moritz told TechCrunch.
“It’s a very different way to pay for a product and it’s a really exciting thing for our sellers.”
The new payment method has its limitations, however.
While you can now pay in cash and get your gift sent to your door, you can’t sell items for less than $250.
Moritz says this new system will allow people to sell a lot more of their jewelry for less money.
“You can sell jewelry for $2,000, $10,000 or even less,” Moritz said.
“This will allow for some really unique jewelry to be created.”
“We want to empower all sellers of jewelry in India.
This is a really huge opportunity for the community,” Moriz added.
“I want to do a lot of work for my community.”
The update will allow anyone to pay with bitcoins, the currency used for online shopping.
Moriz says the system will let people sell a variety of items for $1,500 or more.
It’s also possible to buy in bulk for $5,000.
Moruth said Etsy will continue to support Bitcoin, but is currently in discussions with banks and other payment providers about using the currency as payment.
Moritz says the new system is also a great way to bring some “more mainstream” customers into the business.
He also said that the marketplace is currently focusing on “a small group of sellers who want to be more accessible to the wider community.”
The update comes at a time when India is grappling with a number of social and economic issues that can make it hard for small businesses to stay afloat.
For example, Moritz pointed out that the country has one of the highest murder rates in the world, and many people in India still live in poverty.
“There are so many people who have been struggling in India,” Moruth added.
Moritz and cofounder Michael Lutz have been trying to change that.
Morashis own jewelry business was once a small operation that sold $2 million worth of jews a year.
However, the business has grown to $3 million.
This has made Moritz and Lutz “very happy,” Morashi said.
“I think it’s important for us to continue building a community, because there are a lot people in our community who are struggling with economic hardship,” he added.
